A Brand New Project!

水禽WaterFowl Systems, Inc.

Over the next couple of months, we will be working with WaterFowl Systems Inc. (which is owned by the same great man who owns Clickege!) on several personal and enterprise budget systems.
The programs we develop will run on Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice, Google Docs, Microsoft Web Apps, and possibly more. WaterFowl Systems is planning on offering both paid and free, ad-powered versions of the software, which we hope to begin launching in beta (test) form this summer, slated for a stable late 2011 or early 2012 release.
We will document our adventures here, where we hope you will stick around.

Fixing the Dinosaur Part One: The OS

We are (basically) done renovating the Dinosaur, and we want to discuss the process we took to renovate it. The entire story will probably take a couple of posts, so we're going to discuss it over several posts, starting with this one.
In this post, we discuss installing the OS which we chose to put on our Dinosaur, to replace the 8 year old Windows XP that was running on it before. We chose to install Ubuntu 10.10 because of its speed, lightness (the Dinosaur only has a 40 GB hard drive, so everything needs to be light,) and modern appearance. Because of a problem with a lightning storm with the previous owner, the wifi on the Dino was not working correctly, so we could not install the OS over the air. Instead, we had to order the OS on a CD from Britain (That was the "Royal Mail" we received earlier this month. When the CD finally arrived (after about 8 weeks of waiting) we installed the OS.
Once it was all up and running, we were still having problems connecting by wifi, so we ran a 14 foot cable out the back of our computer and into the wall, as can be seen in the video below. We later do solve the wifi problem, which we will discuss in a future post.

Developing Future

We just got a book that will help us to develop better with HTML and CSS codes. We will also be experimenting with the Palm/HP Ares development system for mobile phones. Stay tuned for more about both of these.

Clickege Games

Clickege's next big project is Clickege Games, an awesome gaming website. We're going to be launching a closed beta of Clickege Games soon. We will document our adventures of developing it on this site. Look forward to it!

Cat App Built, Not Ready for Market

We built the cat app we mentioned earlier, using the Android AI.
Unfortunately, we just discovered that the AI builds the app in a way so it cannot be added to the Marketplace.
Fortunately, we found a piece of software called AppToMarket that builds the app in a way the Market will accept.
Unfortunately, AppToMarket only runs on Windows, and I will not have access to a Windows computer until later today, so I will build the app when I have that Windows computer.
After that, it shouldn't take to much longer to get it functional and into the Market.
Until then...

A Simple Android App

To show you how the Clickege Development Blog will work, we're going to create a simple app for Android. It will feature a picture of a cat. When you pet this picture, the cat will meow.
We know this isn't to complicated, but over the next few days, we're going to document out journey of creating this app. Stay tuned.

Welcome to the Clickege Developer Blog!

Many of you don't know it, but we here at Clickege are big developers. We love creating content and giving it to people around the world. We created this blog to document some of our journeys in developing. Along the way, you may get a sneak peek of things that will be coming to Clickege soon!
